Privacy Policy

NotThereApp processes personal data primarily on your device — for call management, availability control (e.g., “not reachable”), and optional SMS replies that are explicitly confirmed by the user.

What data is processed?

Purpose & how it works

The app helps decline or silence calls based on your rules and — if desired — send a polite SMS notice.

SMS sending is optional and only happens if you enable it (e.g., choose standard message, custom message or no SMS). If enabled, the selected message may be sent automatically when a call is blocked/declined, provided the SMS permission is granted and your device supports sending. Without the SMS permission, the app sends no SMS.

A rate limit may be enforced (e.g., max. one SMS per contact per defined period) to avoid repeated sends.

Spam protection (local & offline)

The optional spam protection runs strictly on-device (no server upload). It uses simple, configurable heuristics (e.g., number validity, length, patterns, international numbers) and respects your contacts. Results are not shared or stored externally.

Server-side processing (trial & Pro unlock)

To manage the trial and NotThereApp Pro unlock, we process only your account status on the server (e.g., User-ID, trial end date, Pro status).

Important: we do not upload or store contacts, phone numbers, call logs, or SMS content on the server.

Primarily local processing – no sharing

Call-related data (contacts/call events/SMS content) remains on your device. There is no tracking and no sharing of this content with third parties. Logs (e.g., call/SMS history) are visible locally and can be deleted in the app.

Note on costs

Sending SMS may incur charges depending on your mobile plan. NotThereApp has no control over your carrier’s billing.

Withdrawal for digital services (NotThereApp Pro)

NotThereApp Pro is a digital service. During checkout, you will be informed about the withdrawal rules for digital services. If you expressly agree that we start providing the service before the end of the withdrawal period, your right of withdrawal may expire early.

Permissions

The app requests the following permissions solely to provide its functionality:

Permissions are used only after your explicit consent.

Default phone app

Reliable call screening may require Android’s default phone app role (ROLE_DIALER). This is optional and explained on first launch.

SMS sending & fallback

If the SMS permission is not granted, the app does not send any SMS. Sending is only possible after you grant the SMS permission and enable the SMS feature.

Storage location & retention

Your rights

You have, among others, the rights of access, rectification, erasure, and withdrawal of consent. As call-related data is not stored server-side, you can view and delete your data directly in the app. For server-side account status data (trial/Pro), you can contact us if needed.
